Spain is facing a severe shortage of new housing. The Bank of Spain estimated that by the end of last year the country would need to build about 550,000 new homes over two years to meet demand.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez noted that about 90,000 homes are built each year in the country, while demand is 300,000.
