Monterroso: Spanish village welcomes migrants with open arms
As the Canary Islands struggle to cope with the number of migrants arriving on their shores, the Spanish state is asking other parts of Spain to take them in. Over the summer, several hundred migrants were sent to Galicia, in northern Spain.
With anti-immigrant sentiment rising, the villagers of Monterroso stand out because they welcome foreigners with open arms and as a welcome addition to the community.
